About:
Encanto is an upcoming American computer-animated musical fantasy comedy film by Walt Disney Animation Studios set in a fantasy version of Colombia. The 60th film produced by the studio, it is directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush, co-directed by Charise Castro Smith, produced by Clark Spencer and Yvett Merino with songs written by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Encanto is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on November 24, 2021.

In November 2016, Miranda revealed that John Lasseter, the then-chief creative officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios, had presented an idea for an animated project to himself and Howard. Miranda said work on the project had begun but was at an early stage. On January 29, 2020, it was reported the studios were developing an animated film centered on a Latino family. The directors, producers, and screenwriters were named.

On June 18, 2020, the tentative title was revealed to be Encanto. The project was also confirmed to be the film Miranda was talking about in 2016, and it was reported to be about a girl in a magical family. While initial reports had said the film would be set in Brazil, Miranda stated on June 22 that it would actually be set in Colombia. The same day, it was also reported that Castro Smith would be a co-director in addition to co-writing the screenplay. On December 10, 2020, the project was officially confirmed at a Disney Investor Day meeting, where a clip was shown, a release in fall of 2021 announced, and magical realism referenced.

Honestly I don’t think there should be a sequel. The first one was really good don’t get me wrong but the sequels are never as good as they want them to be (ofc there are exceptions) but this is a movie where it can and should be left where it is

I think for once a short Disney+ series would be best for an Encanto sequel. I don't see a need to add a villain to the story. Good sequels expand on what the first installment leaves left. So why not instead deep dive into the parents and cousins troubles while seeing where Isabella and Luisa are at in their lives now that they've gotten relief from their expectations. We focused so much on the sisters and Bruno that we never REALLY got to see the rest. Like yeah, we saw that they were all stressed, but we never got to see their individual problems and it would be cool to dive into why Dolores' face looked sad on the final door at the end of the film. And while we saw how frazzled Bruno had become because of his past, it'd be super interesting to dive further into that along with Pepa and Julieta. Especially through some flashbacks.

Like, I'm sure Dolores' power would practically be torturous, not being able to just enjoy life when all sounds around you are dialed up to a thousand. And then, after having spent some time without her power due to the magic being gone, she's now suddenly bombarded with loud noise once again and start secluding herself from the world because her magic room has soundproof walls and it's the only place she can truly relax.
Maybe Camilo deals with identity problems and feels like he has no true personality. Maybe he feels almost as if he himself does not matter unless he can be *someone else.*
These would culminate to make Antonio a main character in the series because he's the youngest who did get to face the brunt of expectations and now just wants to help his older siblings.

There's still so much that could be explored without the need for a villain.

Isabella is NOT a vilain she loves her sisters. She wants to be herself and so creates all sorts of plants and FLOWERRRSSSS

I think a sequel where Mirabel becomes a new matriarch, breaks the generational trauma, and raises/guides the new generation of Madrigals to become healthy, self-confident adults would be great.

The only sequel i could ever see is if the bandits or whatever they were, came back to the village since the mountain cracked open again. The ones the grandmother and grandfather was running from

Not one on a family member turning evil, maybe isabel finding a true love with someone she thought was good but part of those bandits could be a side story. But yeah no other love interest or family member turning evil and def not mirabel leaving because she took over the grandmothers spot to help the family stay together.

I think they should do a series about mirabel digging more into her past, in an attempt to figure out dark secrets from ages ago, she leaves her lovely town out onto an adventure, where she meets people and she becomes friends with them.

I think Encanto already told us the story they wanted to share. While seeing these characters one more time would be good, a sequel wouldn't add anything to the table.

If any family member would end up as a villain it would be Delores. That B knew what was going on the whole time and proceeded to pretend to be oblivious until it benefited her. She wanted the magic to fade so
1. She would be free of her curse/gift
2. Her mom would be free of her curse/gift
3. So the prophecy Bruno have her would be stopped.

please no sequel. maybe a disney+ shorts series showing some of the lore, exploring characters more, especially ones that were more secondary in the movie, BUT NO SEQUEL! this masterpiece needs to be left as it is. and we definetly don’t need new characters (because the ones we have need more exploring already), and we sure as hell don’t need a villain. the good thing about characters like Alma and Isabella is that they’re just flawed humans, but still good people who love their family. i’m sure the “isa as a villain” thing isn’t for real anyway. but i hated that little tease so much because isabella was never a bad person. she fights with her sister because they’re siblings. many siblings are like that. also, we were more sympathetic of mirabel because the story is told from her perspective, not isa’s. from only one side of a story, someone can look like a “bad guy” easily
