Can you use this to find the reciprocal of point in trig form without using a negative angle?

Uhm, at the end you said that if y is not a multiple of 2pi, f.ex. pi or 3pi, then there were no solutions because then we would get ln(-5). But ln(x) is perfectly well defined for negative values of x as well, this is a result of euler's identity (e^pi*i = -1), so therefore ln(-5) would simply be ln(5)+pi*i.
e^(ln(5)+pi*i) = e^ln(5)*e^(pi*i) = 5*(-1) = -5
