Good honest review. As an older rider with a few serious injuries in my past I reckon this bike is marked for blokes like me and young people just getting into riding. I love the videos you do, especially the collaborations with Lance. Keep up the good work 👍

I got mine a month ago. I have 400 miles on it. I downsized from a heavy Super Tenere because at 74 yrs old I needed lower and lighter. So far really like this bike. I agree, the tires will need to be replaced as anything moist off road these tires slip and slide. Other than that I am really happy with mine.

I bought Himalyan as another motorcycle. I think for the first time I chose by reason, not by emotions. Very decent machine. A companion for every expedition.

Great review and have loved mine and done 13k and still smiling. Stepped down from a BMW F800 which was a great bike but made me anxious when on a big solo trip. The Himmy on the other hand inspires confidence for this short arsed 68 year old. Took it to Oodnadatta, Flinders Ranges and solo to Camerons Corner and at no time did I ever have a concern with it. Have had no issues with the neutral problem described but I agree with you with the tyres getting rid of them at 500 klms. Currently running Motoz rallyz after E07's transforming the bike up to another level.

I've got one, done 2200klms in 6 weeks so far and I love it, have had the false neutral thing once or twice, but found it was just me not shifting it fully. Overall I'm really glad I bought it, its really well mannered and a lot more chuckable than it looks, but I agree it needs better tyres for offroad, in saying that though the stock tyres are awesome road and wet tyres, I have done like 6hrs of torrential rain on it and never once felt a lack of confidence with them.
All in all I reckon if you are even slightly interested in one, go ride one for sure, it won't disappoint.

I own one and love it. Perfect for what I need it for.

I always find it funny. Someone isn’t going to pay near $10k and then say, ‘this bike is garbage’. Instead everything is great. Really good. Tiny issue with gearbox but the gearing is great. That’s why it’s actually important to have unbiased views. Mate. Keep trucking. Beautiful job on the editing as well.

I'm impressed you took this bike where you did with factory tyres. I wouldn't have done it.

Rode it for a 1500km long trip but didnt really have issues upshifting from 1st to 2nd.

I've only had the Himalayan for a few days, so limited experience, but I have found myself going into neutral when shifting up from first way more often than on other bikes. Usually, the issue is not getting into neutral when I want to. I'll have to see if I get a better feel for how to shift. That's a minor issue. Otherwise, I find the bike to be brilliant.

Great review, I see a few comments from older riders here and I am much the same! This bike is a value proposition and ticks a lot of boxes at a great price! I tested a Himalayan 411 when they came out but the lack of power made me stick with my VStrom. When the 450 came along one ride had me sold!
I’ve found I have to be a bit more deliberate with the shift to 2nd!

I'm finding that I need to be Minimum 3000 rpm changing from first or it is a bit clunky if you find the sweet spot you hardly feel it change through out the 6 gears Love your videos look forward to your adventures next year enjoy your festive season cheers

I’ve got one the false neutral is I think due to your clutch adjustment it has got a sleeper assist clutch lever just needs to activate so make sure there’s not much movement on the FreePlay

Sounds like an Average About 64 miles (US) per gallon of gas. for the R.E. Himalyan 450. Considering Highway and off-road mix of it. That's pretty good

I’m 75 and ride a BMW 1200GS with over 100, 000 miles. It’s time for a lighter, lower bike. Is the Himalayan capable of cruising at 75 mph?

the design could be kept from the 411, ground clearance is a downer too...

Great review mate, the hitting neutral issue I find is just a fresh gearbox and it’s very agricultural. You need to force it up to go from 1st to 2nd. But you said a very important phrase at the start. Your hard earned cash. It’s too easy now to get a bank loan for a 20k bike then save up for a lower priced bike for most.

Thanks for the interesting review. I wouldn't buy the Himalayan either. Quality isn't bad considering the price, but the look definitely doesn't work for me.
