Truly said. Problem is not paying high taxes. Problem is knowing that the tax I pay is not getting utilised at correct places and goes in corruption.

As a tax payer, I'm not asserting that we don't wish to pay taxes. However, it would be beneficial to provide additional benefits to tax-payers as they are the ones financially providing for the needs (loots) of our leaders as well.

Despite paying so much tax, you can't get any work done in any government department without giving bribe to government employee.

We needs to focus on -

1) Controlling corruption and scams - Longer jail punishments for convictss, stricter regulations on working bodies in government departments - Proper ulitizations of government must be a priority for centre and state government.

2) Taxing farmers who earns more than 50 lakhs in profits

3) Finding ways to tax unorganised sectors individuals who earns more than 15 lakhs in profits in a year -
These inculdes - Pan show owners, Kirana store owners, Vendors & Sellors of goods with shops at some scale etc
- They will gives lakhs crores of taxes

4) Encoraging people if they earn good enough to spend back in economy as it puts a lot of money in circualtion casuing interest rates to go down if followed for long enogh period in all sectors.

It's high time GOI should tax rich farmer as well. Recently we have seen how 3-4 farmers have earned more than 4-5 cr by selling tomato.
If they incurred any loses than they should get a chances to offset that loses similar to what we do in case of loses in equity or mutual fund while filing IT returns.

One point related to taxing the farmers is the concept of true income. Cash is untraceable. As soon as we start taxing them they will start hiding it. The first thing we need to remove all currency above Rs. 100, then after a few years 50 and later completely. When all transactions happen online, thanks to UPI, we will have end to end visibility. Everyone's real income will become visible.

Exactly what you said only 6% of India pays the taxes. We are with a population of 1.4 billion and only 6% of our population pays the taxes of these people. And these 6% people are from the private sector and job population. One of the reasons why many Indians leave India is because of tax and not good facilities. There are a lot of farmers who have a lot of property and money but they cry about taxes and injustice. Things need to be changed for greater good. Also stop giving votes in the name of freebies! In the end it's your tax! The country won't run just by giving freebies, instead of that focus on development. Thanks a lot for covering this topic. Really appreciated it!

I saw some idiot asking why farmers are paying tax but not big companies.

Farmers do not pay tax. That's why even Amitabh Bacchan registered himself as a farmer. As per section 10(1), agricultural income earned by the taxpayer in India is exempt from tax. Agricultural income is defined under section 2(1A) of the Income-tax Act. Farmers are the most exempted and overrated citizen in India. They do not pay taxes, they do not even have to repay loans. But a salaried person who pays 30% income tax has to repay loan with 25-40% rate.

India should also focus on other revenue sources such as making tourism industry better than ever. This will increase the income of individuals and will definitely create more demand for goods ans services and create more tax revenue. India should focus on quantity of people paying taxes.

From many days I was thinking about the tax on agriculture, whenever Political parties talk about agricultural revenue.
According to my knowledge, there was time when farmers used to pay taxes based on their production even during golden era of our history and india had good economy but after independence India didn't took any taxes from farmers still their condition is not good
