Not many people get that the song was from the dog’s perspective and that Chase came at the end to take his dog with him to heaven where they can ride in the bench seat. I saw an interview with Chase Rice and the Middle Ages dog in the video is actually his dog. He said it was a very emotional song for him.

This song is so emotional because it is sung from the dog's perspective. And the dog wasn't able to save his friend Chase. But, he looked after his family/son for all those years. But, at the end of the video, the dog is old. And it is time for him to pass so Chase comes to get him and bring him home on the bench seat one last time....

Thanks so much for doing my request! In the beginning of the song it said "you were pretty beat up when I took you in" so i was confused because the dog wasn't but Chase was! And then especially at the grave site he said "I always knew this day would come, just thought id be the first to go" and then you see the dog looking at the casket and saying that he'd look after them! So it took me a couple times to realize it was the dog speaking❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
