Показать описание
Animal Farm by George Orwell Chapter 3, narrated by Isaac Birchall
The animals spend a long hard summer harvesting the fields planted before the expulsion of Jones. The pigs think of ways for the animals to use human tools which allows them, thanks to the keen eyes of the chickens and ducks, to bring in a larger harvest than ever recorded by their former rulers. Boxer does most of the heavy labour, and the entire farm is in constant awe of his strength and work ethic.
Every Sunday, the animals hold a ceremony where they raise the flag of animal farm. At these ceremonies, the pigs also talk through the work of the coming week, and debates are held between Snowball and Napoleon, where they argue what they think would be best for the Farm.
Snowball establishes a number of committees with goals like re-educating the rats and the rabbits, to little success. The one committee that is a success however, is the class designed to teach the animals of the farm to read a write. By the end of the summer, the majority of Animals on the farm achieve some level of literacy, with the pigs becoming fluent, and many of the dogs able to read the 7 commandments. Boxer however, never manages to get past the letter D, and when he does manage to get to the next 4 letters of the alphabet, he forgets the first 4. Because of the struggles in literacy, Snowball reduces the commandments to 1 general maxim. “2 Legs Good, 4 Legs bad…”
