How to Turn Day into Night with White Balance - Lighting with Colour Part 2

In Part 2, we take a look at how understanding the qualities and exposure levels of your lighting and scene, can allow you to use colour temperature and white balance to turn day into night.

Parts 4 and 5 will be released to Youtube over the next 3 months, delving further into how you can look at using colour temperature and white balance in your work, with practical examples. Part 3 is exclusive to the digital download and the Patreon stream.

There are a couple of sections in this part where the voice over audio goes a little funky when viewed on a phone. TV, headphones, speakers all seem to be fine, so possibly something mono related - I haven't been able to figure this one out! So headphones are recommended if viewing on a phone!

To shoot the Lighting with Colour series I used:

Lighting:

Camera:
Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro

Lenses:
Samyang VDSLR MK2 24mm
Samyang VDSLR MK2 35mm

Rarely do I find a video without some kind of garbage; this one's pure gold.

Day to Night was always a mystery to me...showing the long exposure night shot and how similar it was to a day shot blew me away! It's incredible to think of shooting a bunch of shots for different times of day from one lighting setup! Thanks so much!

Man Rob, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. You’re lighting videos are hands down the most informative videos available!! Great job brother!

Ive been lighting and shooting film and video for three decades. If newbies would just pay attention and absorb your lighting tutorials, they would become much more creative and possibly get more work as cinematographers. These techniques are also time savers, and subsequently, budget savers!!!
EXCELLENT SERIES

I freakin' love these lighting videos, Rob. I bought the Nanlite Forza 500 because of you, and I've implemented your techniques into several videos that I've shot. Lighting is FAR more important than I ever realized, and your videos have shown that to me, resulting in an instant increase in quality of our content. Bless your face ❤

Man, you make tutorials like hardly anyone else. I knew these principles already but it is such a great video. This is something not talked about much and you break down the how and why very well.
