Fanatec Clubsport Shifter V1.5 Review - Gearbox With Some Party Tricks

The Clubsport Shifter is your best mate if you love to time travel through motorsport eras, due to the easy switch from manual to sequential, and an adjustable shift tensioner. It's a respectable shiftbox, especially with recent firmware updates solving a big problem with connectivity with the CSL DD.

i upgraded from a g29 set to the GT DD Pro with all extras and also didnt wanna downgrade so i also bought the clubsport shifter.
actually had no idea that this was a new product, i just added it out of fomo.
the update 439 preceded the arrivel of my dd pro, so i never had issues with the shifter.
i will say its quite heavy and big, so you need to figure out where to mount it to get a accurate position for it relative to your seat but im super happy with it.
before i saw it i never thought there was a shifter that could switch between 8speed and sequential on the fly, the fact that you can bind the sequential mode to emulate the paddles is also a plus in some games.
i cant say i have any complaints, except the switch is sometimes a bit hard to move, id recommend this to anyone who drives road cars or rally cars

Moving from H pattern to sequential requires a ton of effort. Almost to the point in which I think the shifter will break. Yes..I have it in neutral when I switch.

I bought this for Mazda cup racing, paddles are not working for me anymore. still worth it in 2025? or should I have waited for new release?

Does this function any different than the Fanatec mag paddle shifters on my csl club sport wheel in iracing? A friend who has this said he could preload a shift up/down and release the handle and on throttle blip the gear would change. With my paddles, I would need to hold the up paddle until I blipped the throttle for the gear to change. Mainly trying Nascar cars/tracks like the next gen 6 cars. On a Nascar road course, I'm having trouble downshifting with the paddles without blipping the throttle or waiting until the RPMs are lower. Curious if the sequential shifter mode behaves this way. I bought this shifter for my sim rig that uses a Fanatec GT7 DD Wheelbase. Out of the box, the shifter has not worked right in H-mode. I use a PS5 console and am not sure if the driver and firmware updates apply to me. I would love to be able to actually use the shifter for more than sequential, but not sure what to do.

What’s the shift into 7th gear like? Is it a pain in the ass pushing down like in reverse?
I don’t know why Fanatec made it that way. Regardless, I’ve ordered one but have to wait until mid June for it to ship

If you just wanted an H pattern what would you recommend for use with CSL DD & Clubsport pedals? I can't see me using the sequential feature not when I've got paddles. Is the construction of this worth paying for over a cheaper H pattern only? Thanks

Mine likes to mis-shift. Like it'll read 3rd as 5th, or 4th as 6th. [sarcasm]Real nice for a 300+ dollar shifter [/sarcasm]
