This boss straight up caught me off guard. I thought I was going down a side path when I ran into it. Unfortunately for him I'm a first run god... Is what I would say if I had more than 3 heals left...

THIS was the fight that finally gave me ye olde Dark Souls vibes. He's slow and telegraphed, so you can learn his moves and still feel the progress every time you die and come back (obligatory: "You died? lol i did it naked with a stick on my first try".) He doesn't pull nearly enough tricks that the rest of the bosses do: wombo-combo followed by wombo-combo, fake you out and then 360 degree track the first/second hit, Hit like a truck yet dodge like a mosquito, constantly hop to the other side of the arena and force a chase, or AOE spam. These things aren't always bad but they're a pain when too many bosses resort to it. No wonder everyone in the Land's Between loved Godfrey lol.

Anyone else notice that Godfrey (both this version and his first phase at the real fight) fights kind of like a crucible knight? Slow, powerful attacks that chain smoothly into each other, and long-range stomps that shake the earth.

Is the implication that Hoarah Loux adopted a fighting style similar to the newly converted Crucible Knights when he became Marika’s consort? Or maybe it was the other way around?

Everyone i see fighting various bosses has so much hp, which makes me feel kinda proud since my vigor is still so low. I just dodge every attack. But seeing as i get one shotted if i miss a dodge i think it’s the smart thing to crank that hp up

I'd imagine Godfrey's lineage all fought using some variation of his style, that being a two-sided heavy battle axe. Before Godrick was grafted, he probably wielded his axe in a similar manner to Godfrey, he even uses the ground smash against the tarnished.

i was fighting this boss in the middle of the night and said “if i defeat this boss tonight, my grandma should be cured from her illness” i defeated the boss. but sadly my grandma passed away not so long after that. an un promised promises

Coming back to this after finishing the game, aside from the music being less intense and imposing, I noticed even Godfrey's spirit's attacks are slower too.

Amazing battle
Even phase 1 is dangerous
And has more techniques than ghost version

I fought the crucible knight in the evergoal WAY too many times and since their movesets were pretty similar i beat this dude on my second try

He doesn’t look so bad, I almost feel guilty using the mimic tear. Almost.

this dude came out of nowhere and almost gave me a stroke. Thankfully, he's easier than the real one.
