Thanks for these refreshers. So, if anyone is wondering, it's somewhat true that you won't use this stuff after highschool unless you decide to do something with your life. Now that I'm closer to the end than the beginning, this all seems much more interesting than the first time around. Plus, I can see so many applications which for me is very helpful. Think of Fourier transforms, it's hard for some to get their heads around but show how a spring vibrates or a capacitor charges/discharges, then the concepts are easier to understand.

I got it the intended way, this is what all those years in school were amounting to then.

Radius = 3
Side= 6cm

Area of Shaded Region:
Area of Square - Area of circle formed by 4 quadrants
Side² - πr²
6² - π(3)²
36 - 9π
Option C✅✅

I had a really good math teacher for 3 of 4 high school years. I loved this stuff but haven’t used it for decades. It’s coming back to me.

Keep up the good job. It's better than all fun shorts. Great for students and for us old folks who enjoyed Algebra, it's great refresher.

*Area of shaded region*
*= Area of square - Area of circle*
= Side² - π(radius)2
= 6² - π(3)²
*= 36 - 9π*

I've returned to college and vaguely remember doing similar equations, I subscribed to your channel and I am thankful for your knowledge

We used to do this when we were in class 8 India

fun fact unrelated to the problem but related to the setup: fit a circle inside the shades region, so it's tangent to all of the circles. the radius is less than the size of the square. go up a dimension, so you have spheres on all 8 corners of a cube and a sphere tangent to all 8 in the center. if you keep going up in dimension, the high-dimensional sphere gets larger faster than the square, so in super high dimensions, this sphere is actually LARGER than the cube

I was always terrible in math and I actually got this right. I wish my HS math teachers taught this way. My teachers dragged everything out and made it more complicated than it has to be!

Problem doesn’t state the non shaded area is a square.
