August 2024. Dear Mat. You saved my life. I haven;t had sleep for 3 days now trying every possible thing to do a succesful migration. Finally, I managed to succesfully migrate it and I have a spanking clone of my localhost website. One more thing I needed to do was that the AIW 100GB was zipped in a mac OS System. So I had to locally extract the Zip, delete the Mac OS folder and contents and rezip. After that I exported.. then it worked. I tried your method earlier as well without doing that and restoration errors were there at the end. You may let your Windows users know this. It's important. Much love...from India

Thank you for mentioning the mixed content issue. Many people who migrate their sites get confused why this is happening! I'd like to add that if you have SSH access to your server you can fix it by using the WP-CLI command without the need of any plugin. If you don't have access to your server then plugins like Better Search and Replace or Really Simple SSL would suffice. Excellent content as usual Matt!

absolute livesaver. I am a teacher and web developer from kenya who learned the trade from youtube. I created a website for another client that works completely but the hosting provider was absorbed by a larger one.I was getting a generic internal server error 500 after doing what worked previously. I got the idea to copy the working one to the new one because i could not import themes. That is when i landed on your very useful tutorial. Now i have learned that the problem has to do with size limit, htaccess and and php.ini. i will learn at a later date. meanwhile, i am able to edit the site and deliver. thanks a ton

Matt, Thank's again. This tutorial and your plugin, still a must. Apocalypse happened to my website after some updates, and I had to get back to my local backup site. First I tried to do it by memory ( screwed up) and afterwards just came here and «alt-tabbed» every step of the way.

Thank you for this, this worked amazingly for me! For mine, it was more of moving from cloned site to main site. Perhaps that had less issue, nonetheless, this migration was super smooth and had no downtime thanks to your plugin. Have a great day and stay safe too! Hi Matt, thanks for your help. I successfully migrated my 2 websites by following your tutorial. However, I bumped into a problem (stuck) when I tried to import. So i used the backup solution and it worked. Just a quick tip for those who may have the same problem. I actually have to lower my PHP version to 7.4. But if 8.1 works for you, that's great; otherwise, try to lower it to 7.4. Anyway, big thanks to Matt for your help. Really grateful I have found your channel. Subscribed.
