Abstract of Project:
Cycling is a way for people to exercise which can improve health and is eco which can reduce air pollution. We often encourage cycling regardless of older person, children, woman and person with disabilities. But there are 4 main problems when it comes to cycling safety. First, cyclists are unable to detect cars approaching them. Second, cyclist don’t usually show which direction that they’re turning which causes confusion for the car drivers behind them. Third, when they fell down or have an accident on the road, nobody knows. Forth, some cyclists are unable to build lights on their unique bicycle for night cycling.

Thus, our main objective is to develop a prototype that can solve all 4 problems to ensure the safety of the cyclist and encourage more people to cycle.

The Safety Circle (SAFETY CIRCUIT FOR CYCLE) has 1 circuit and 1 app. First, SIGNAL SYSTEM: When the user gives out the specific command through the app, the app transmit a command to the circuit. The circuit receives and blinks left or right for the signalling. Next, LIGHT SYSTEM when the user gives out the specific command through the app, it turns on the light sensor and will turn on and off the flashlights of the phone according to the surrounding light intensity. Next, IMPACT SYSTEM when the vibration sensor of the circuit detects a huge impact (Fall down), it will send a command to the app. The app will send out a distress message to the contact number. Next, OID SYSTEM when the ultrasonic sensor of the circuit detects an object (Car) within 200cm, it will send a command to the app. The app will show a TEXT for DANGER and start playing alarm sounds. If the object has been detected for more than 8 seconds, it will stop playing alarm sound as it may be a stationary object (Cars during traffic light). To use this prototype, the user can attach the circuit to any clothes at their back and install the phone on the bicycle handle. The circuit is very portable to be brought to any place. A voice recognition function is also used for the users to send the command to the app. The circuit also has light reflectors on it for enabling the drivers to notice them easily in the dark.
