Burgess Hill driving test FAIL
Short term learner insurance:

Here we have footage from a real practical driving test in Burgess Hill.

Unfortunately the candidate didn't pass, the underlying cause of this was panicking about trying to 'please' the examiner, getting panicked and rushing and driving too fast on several occasions.

On your test you need to show you can control you nerves, stay calm, and make composed and controlled decisions, whilst not being overly hesitant, it is all about having the correct balance.

I passed my driving test at Burgess hill on 2nd attempt with zero minor ! I had follow the sign towards Brighton for independent driving, I was expecting a sat nav but I was good at both and nailed it … instructor was quite happy after the test . Thanks for all your video, it was helpful

Did you call Hurstpierpoint College, Ardingly college? I know this area very well well, infact the candidate was asked to stop right outside my house. I consider this a dangerous place to stop on a right hand bend as it is particularly difficult to see other traffic approaching up the hill behind. That corner is also particularly dangerous if there is a risk of ice as it is permanently in shadow in the winter time, I watched 5 cars one morning each lose control and mounting the pavement, trying to avoid parked cars opposite my house.
Despite frequent attempts, the council refused to install a grit bin on the 3-4 m wide grass verge. Something like a grit bin would indicate that extra caution may be required.

Wow this is a blast from the past. I used to live off Howard Avenue (20:16). When I took my test there was no test centre in Burgess Hill. I took my test in Kemptown, Brighton in January 1989

In terms of variety of roads, speed limits and conditions, I have to say that Burgess Hill isn't the best place to take a driving test. The roads are seemingly more complicated than the surrounding test centres and there are lots and lots of opportunities to fail your test. A good alternative would be Worthing test centre if you're able to book it!

Something even worse than failing your driving test is being told you're still not ready to take it! I've had like almost 100 hours now and three mock tests where I've made one serious error and a few minors in each so that's not awful but my instructor still feels I'm not quite there yet 😑😒😔.

The mock tests I took aren't the worst and I've seen many people keep failing them days before their year and yet still go for their test. So I think I should but my instructor still feels like I'm not like the average learner, where usually you'll be able to pinpoint where the weaknesses are. For me the main issue is focus and my mistakes are slightly more random. He did say he can't really teach me anything new at this point because he feels I know what to do: I have all the skills to drive and have all the potential, very good car control etc but can't maintain the level for long enough due to lack of concentration. Like I'll drive really well for 30 mins and then make a mistake, dwell on it, lose focus then make another error and so on. Then my negative thoughts remind me how useless I am for taking this long. I guess what worries me is that if it's the case that I can't be taught anything new, then I may never be able to do this.

I'm almost 40 so age doesn't help but after this many hours I should be there. It is really demoralising. I've had three instructors with some bad experiences with the previous two, some big gaps in between like a month with no driving.

I feel very inadequate and worthless as a human being. I've never been that confident in myself so this isn't helping.
I feel like there has to be something really wrong with me to fail like this. I'm already a failure in life, unfulfilling admin job, haven't had a relationship in many years. I wish I was never born. Hate what I've become.

Anyway regardless, Monday I'll have a final mock test and then decide if I need to delay the test which will be difficult to accept after so many hours and lessons and money.

I went down this exact road for my test and took your advice in the speed and i got failed fir it!
It's really not safe to go as fast as national speed limit here but that doesn't mean the driving examiner won't fail you !

I have my first driving test at 8am on saturday (in 2 days!) and I really hope I don't make any silly mistakes. As its so early on saturday I am hoping its going to be super quiet so I can focus more on ensuring all my checks etc are done compared to hoping other drivers dont pull out infront of me etc hahah

At 24:00, the candidate didn't wait for padestrian waiting to cross road, Highway code says when you are turning you need to give way to waiting padestrians.
