Blondie was a band that took on all genres: Punk, Rock, New Wave, Disco, Reggae, Rap, etc. Debbie Harry blazed the trail for women like Pat Benatar to follow.

This song, was from the hit movie American Gigolo, that shot movie star, Richard Gere to fame. She is absolutely a rocker, and one of the women that came out of the New York punk scene. Her music has gone beyond different genres. She was actually one of the first women to Rap for one of her songs, as well as a variety of songs that were classified as New Wave music. The group's name is Blondie but her name is Deborah Harry. She is out there at 76 years of age Still rocking!

Blondie is an American rock & new wave band co-founded by singer Debbie Harry & guitarist Chris Stein. They had a lot of great hits in the 70's-90's such as Heart Of Glass", "Call Me", "Atomic", "The Tide Is High", “Rapture”, "Picture This", "Hanging On The Telephone", "I'm Gonna Love You Too", "One Way Or Another", "Sunday Girl", "Dreaming", "Island Of Lost Souls", "War Child", "Maria"etc.

Drop the needle anywhere on their first three records and you will hit a classic. She's an incredible person who put her career on hold at its height to care for her husband, Blondie keyboardist Chris Stein who had developed an autoimmune disease. They then made a comeback in the late 90s as he recovered which yielded the amazing song Maria.

An awesome Blondie rocker for Jay is "One Way or Another". Total Pat Benatar vibe. For Amber I would say "Rapture". A very creative song. Includes one of the first raps on record. My favorite Pat Benatar for the next Female Friday should be "Promises in the Dark". Start slowly as if it's a love song and then turns into a fiery rocker that ends with one of the best music drops in rock history.

She is a legend that smashes any boxes & was the inspiration for so many artists including Pat. JAY, if you want your mind blown react to The Tide is High. It caused quite a sensation & shift in what range artists could have when it dominated radio.

‘Rapture’ and the whole album was awesome! The band was perfect for the time and ‘Call Me’ was the theme song for the movie American Gigolo.

Blondie started out as a NYC punk band in the same scene as the Ramones, Talking Heads, and a lot of other huge bands of the late '70s/early '80s. Oh, and she came before Pat Benetar, not the other way around... it's not her emulating Pat, it's the other way around.

You can't go wrong with Blondie and Debbie Harry. They will always surprise you. Love the group and Debbie Harry, they and she are so original and talented. As a young girl I admired Debbie and tried out many of her styles and looks. She is still cool today IMHO. Hope you'll react to more Blondie songs.
