The Rapture by Blondie in 1980 was considered the very first major label song to have hip hop, rap elements & Deborah Harry was considered the first female to rap on a song. The first rap song was King Tim III (The Third) by the Fatback Band in 1978 followed by Rappers Delight by Sugar Hill Gang also in 1980

Great reaction! The band Blondie also did Call Me which won them a Grammy in 1980. She is a true original! Thanks Greg!

She was an absolute Punk icon and had so many hits. I love 'Sunday Girl', 'The Tide is High' (old Ska song), 'One way or Another' etc. At the absolute height of their fame, Debborah Harry topped to look after her partner, the guitarist when was extremely sick. She made a lovely appearance with 'Maria' years later. She is still beautiful now at nearly 80!

This takes me back to my youth. I loved Blondie and Debbie Harry's singing. They never took themselves too seriously. A whole lot of talent.

The band Blondie & lead singer Debbie Harry combined rock, disco, & techno sounds in their music. Songs to react to: "Rapture", "Call Me", & "One Way Or Another". These will get you started. Thanks for this one.

*When Blondie was just starting out, their CBGB days, they leaned more toward Punk music. Then some of their songs swayed more toward 'disco/dance club' toward the end of the disco era. Want to hear an early song of theirs...try: Rip Her To Shreds. Popular Blondie songs are: One Way Or Another__The Tide Is High__Rapture__Maria__Call Me.*

Original title of this song was, "Pain in the Ass", but the record company made them change it.

'Shayla' is another of their lesser-known songs, but it sticks in my head. Seems to be about a suicidal girl who gets saved by aliens as she jumps off a bridge. Spacey and mysterious. I love it.

Glad you got the right version. In some videos and live performances they overdub that "pain in the ass" line.
Great reaction. Thanks.
