Kauai Adventures: The Blue Hole

Most people that experience the Blue Hole don’t actually step foot in it, they view it from the window of a helicopter. The Blue Hole is surrounded by miles of thick rain forest, mountains, and rivers, which makes it one of the most remote and difficult to reach places on Kauai.

Ok, I’m here in Kauai and I just completed this hike yesterday. Wow! What an amazing and exhausting day! Thanks for posting this. It was one of many videos I watched on this hike before I went and did it. Nothing can prepare you for what it’s actually like until you do it yourself.

Made it halfway ourselves. We drove in with a Jeep most of the way. Stream crossings were exciting. Took us 3 or so hours to get from the dam to the smaller waterfalls. So many dead ends. We almost gave up until we ran into a local hiker who gave us some rough directions. Had to keep hopping back and forth across the river, making totems out of rocks for ourselves to help us on the way back -- seriously we'd turn around after exiting a "trail" section and we couldn't even see where we popped out. Mud would suck our shoes right off our feet. Incredible hike, a true "epic adventure." Would love to return and attempt the whole thing some day.

So after you take a dip near the convergence waterfall, you climb up that main middle falls on the left side and then once up there, do you immediately cross over to the other side of the stream, or continue on the left side of the middle stream?? I did this hike in 2012 and was lost after that point... there was no marking or flags anywhere... after a couple hours, I headed back. Any help or gpx track would be appreciated! Thanks!
