The fact that this was ever allowed in the first place lets you know how far the education system has deteriorated.

Finally waking up that phones in class are a major distraction.

I must be old. When I was in grade school, teachers would confiscate our phones if it rang or they saw it in our hands. And our parents would have to go to the office to retrieve the cell phone

Only thing is, for emergencies, they can’t call 911 or record emergent situations like bullying or accidents

When I was in school, we had to go to the office to make a phone call so they could survive.

Only thing I worry about now, , , .... is all these school shootings .... school lock downs mass shootings and when something happens kids have no one to call not their parents not their grandparents - we didn't have mass school shootings back in the days it's more common now... I worry for the kids that may be put in the situation and can't call 911 when something happens 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

I hope teachers are also useing the phone pouches. Lead by Example! Teachers are there to teach the youth, students will follow eventually.

In stead of putting cellphones in pouches, how about teaching kids some self control and discipline starting at the earlier grades.

This won’t work because the awful kids will just rip it open.

I have two responses to the phone ban. The first is, 'It's about time!' The second thought, however, is that in some circumstances cell phones were instrumental in recording inappropriate or abusive behavior by teachers in the classroom. It's sad that it's even an issue, but it's been a safety valve for our children. Over the years hiring standards in certain school districts has become far more lenient.

How are the students supposed to know what to think now?

Isn’t cell-phone considered a human right these days? Now we are treating cell-phones like cigarettes and alcohol by creating cell-phone free zones.

With freedom comes responsibility and accountability, and vice-versa.

We had pagers back in the day, and they were not allowed in the classroom. Kids today are so messed up in the head because of these mobile devices.
