In this talk, Dr Karen Patterson covers a review of the history of vaccine hesitancy and unpacks particular aspects of Covid-19 vaccine fears.

Dr Patterson reviews the (scant) data on getting people to change their mind about medical decisions. As a pro-medicine, pro-vaccine person, Dr Patterson poses the controversial question of how righteous we are allowed to be when patients make “poor” decisions.

This lecture is part of the Brighton and Sussex Medical School's Monthly Lecture Series, designed for secondary school and college students. This lecture series, running from October 2021 through to July 2022, provides a unique opportunity for students to learn more about different aspects of medicine, career pathways, and how to get into medicine.
