Subscap Release

COMMENT “MAGIC” IF YOU GAINED RANGE OF MOTION!
Shoulder FIX!
Adding just a few degrees of external rotation to your shoulder can give you major pain relief. It can also, free up your shoulder to be more athletic(i.e. throwing a ball).
Tightness of your Subscapularis is often the culprit of your limited external rotation. Releasing the subscapularis can often make a huge difference in your shoulder external rotation and help give you shoulder impingement relief.
To properly release this tissue:
-Lie on your side and allow your scapula/shoulder blade to abduct/protract.
-Feel around with your fingers to find the area’s of restriction or trigger points within the muscle.
-Tack each point down using a lacrosse ball while the Subscapularis is in a shortened position.
- Then take this muscle through its range of motion by going into external rotation.
-Repeat for a couple minutes or until you feel as if the tissue has released.
To make sure this is effective do a test-retest and see if your shoulder external rotation has improved.
