The Ancient way of building temples and artifacts with massive blocks of basalt, granite and limestone is by far the most difficult approach one can take, yet for the Ancients it seems to have been the easier way to build

If it was geopolymers, there wouldn’t be a giant stone left in the quarry. They were quarrying the giant stones. Not making them from gravel.

No way, civilizations thousands of years apart do thing differently? This is groundbreaking

It's a flex. Name a better way to convince primitive people you're a legit God.

Maybe the term "cost effective" for those that built these structures was that the MOST amount of people will benefit from this type of structural technique for the most amount of time through not only their use, but also their construction.

Not some kind of whacky scarcity creating enterprises that artificially create monetary value while disregarding ANY OTHER KIND of value or benefit to anyone but the investor class.

If viewed using that lens; it doesn't only make sense. But, those structures were over engineered to perform astronomically better than they were designed. THEY'RE STILL THERE!!!!

Have you ever seen a mansion or a big house that is left unfinished because the person who paid for it was too greedy and couldn’t afford it at the end? This is similar, it was probably ambitious project and the crack made them stop

Bragging rites !! Plain and Simple if you fabbed it moved it and stood it up without a crack or flaw in it you was a living God !!

Yeah we built things differently because we have industry and we can mass produce things and they didn't. That's why each stone is a little different - because they had to cut them and polish them by hand.
If they had advanced technology, they would probably build it out of steel or concrete. Even if they picked stone for some reason, the blocks would be exactly the same size if they used "lasers" to cut them.

Where is the last clip from with the stacked stones and electricity ?

"I'm sure today that we could move that."

Seriously.. you might want to consider how much the entire thing weighs once again. And then consider which tools and Machinery you will use to lift each section so that it does not fractured.

It’s Called absolute power. Today we would not
do it because it’s too expensive and there’s no point in it. Then it’s what the
Pharaoh wanted and no other information was needed.

Quite simple. Think of how much work it was to carve the giant bricks out of the lime or sandstone. Now multiply that by about a million and now you have how much work it'd take to build stuff like today. Even for smaller buildings, they still used bigger blocks until roughly the late middle ages when they began redescovering the ancient methods (mostly roman but yk) and began finding ways to cast concrete and mass produce bricks. In the bronze age and before that just wasnt an option bcs who's got the time to carve THAT many bricks

Oy reason would be to last indefinitely or forever.

things built today would never last as long, maybe they wanted us to see them.

That's the 1st problem is that it is "cost effective"... we shouldn't have to buy just make and prosper

The entire point was that is was not cost effective. It was unbelievably expensive and labor intensive. That was the entire point

If the world flooded again today how much of the pyramids would be underwater?

Lucidio

if you are afraid of God striking you with lightning for disobeying him wouldn't you want a conductive building that would transfer the electricity and not be blown up/burned down?

DeathxStrike

I believe those structures were designed to soak up surplus labor. Labor intensity was desired.

Why can't they tell if the mega structures of the ancient world were made from geopolymers? We should be able to tell, right?

Observe the door ways, no one working on this site was wearing sandals or under 17 feet tall nor was area dessert.i think the narrative is in correct.
