When the Holy Spirit comes to us, He bestows sanctifying grace on the soul, which includes the three theological virtues of faith, hope and love. At the same time, the Holy Spirit brings further and higher gifts to us, which enable us to act in an even higher mode than the theological virtues.

The Gifts of the Holy Spirit (Aquinas 101) - Fr. Dominic Legge, O.P.

Greetings from China. I’m an ex-atheist. James Joyce introduced me here.

I'm a Charismatic Christian and I'm blown away at how similar Catholicism is to what I believe. I have more in common with Rome than Calvin lol

I was raised Pentecostal/protestant and this made perfect sense to me. I am also teetering on conversion to Catholicism for other reasons.

Today I learned that the gifts of the Spirit are like divine instincts that we use to achieve God's purposes on the Earth. _Gracias._

The Church has to get back to making STAQ's truths part of daily soul food. The more I grow from this channel's teaching, the more confident I am in my faith - gives me knowledge of structure, movement, and mystery. Glory to God...

The gift of knowledge also perfects the virtue of hope. Aquinas doesn't state it explicitly, but it can be deduced from the nature of the gift as he describes it and clearly matched with the virtue of hope, given its formal motive. It's listed this way in the works of 20th century Thomists, especially Garrigou-Lagrange. That way, each gift is seen as perfecting one of the virtues.

This channel is a God send. God bless all the Fathers! I have binged the content... so miraculous how the great mind of the good Doctor, St Thomas Aquinas is now being taught in the modern world with it's technology despite the decline in spiritual things.

That was such an enlightening presentation on the Gifts of the Holy Spirit and their relationship with the Virtues. Thanks Fr. Legge and everyone at TI for all you do to educate Catholics on the teachings of St. Thomas Aquinas.

I have listened to this only twice.
And l will listen until it permeates my being.
It should be passed on to people preparing for confirmation. What a gift to be of an older generation . I was confirmed at age 7 .
Yes l have church records to prove it.
The sacraments are so powerful.

Thank you Father! Your explanations, like always, are illuminating. You speak as one upon whom The Holy Spirit has truly descended.

You had mentioned Aquinas’ teachings on this matter, yet unlike other videos, the title card does not give a citation. Where does Aquinas speak on this matter?

God bless!
