Thank you for making theses videos! I have a question. I write cozy mysteries and saw a well known group called, Sisters in Crime. What are you thoughts on them or any groups you have to pay for a membership? I've heard a lot of great things about Sisters in Crime, however, I wanted to hear your opinion and/or from the viewers. I'm mostly curious if it would be helpful and will be worth the money. Thanks again for making theses videos and answering questions.

Hi, Alyssa! If an author knows that they want to do a combination of trad publishing and self publishing, should they tell their agent before they sign with them?

QUESTION!
This first part you can skip in the video if you use this question, it's just a little context. The next comment will have the main question.

On the BookEnds Literary Agency YouTube channel, in a video called "What Happens After Your First Book?" Jessica says that she has had clients write a second book that she can't do anything with and the editor didn't want it either, and she calls it a waste of time that could have been avoided by talking about what to work on next before writing the book.

This kinda makes me headscratch. Writers should just be writing what they want to write. That is the #1 rule for writing. Completing a book isn't time wasted. It's always an accomplishment and something to be proud of. The fact that the agent doesn't want to represent the book doesn't mean it was wasted time on the writers part, and the agent certainly didn't spend much time on it.
