Varices - What Are They And Why They Occur?

Varices are a coomon occurance within Gastroenterology and patients are constantly cofused by what they are and why they occur.

In this video, I will discuss just that - what are varices, why do your veins swell, what is the portal system, why your liver plays such a big role in digestion and cleaning of blood, how cirrhosis affects blood flow, why other organs like the esophagus, stomach and intestines are affected, where are the varices located, and similar conditions that can occur.

i have esophageal and stomach varices and no cirrhosis. My Dr's are confused. Einstein experts looked at my biopsy, mri's ultra sounds etc and said i have stage 1-2 Fibrosis. So how can this be?

I have varices by a cocktail of blod pressure meds given from the er room. My stomach became huge, like liver disease. Veins, painful, sharp pain, and discolored. Lack of blood flow.

I have gastric varices but I don’t have cirrhosis of the liver. I’ve already had my liver looked at. It’s fatty but there’s no scarring or anything like that. So they don’t know exactly why I have Varices it unspecified, That’s what I understand
