I bought a new alto lxi (1000 CC) for 3.5 lakhs in 2007. Used it for 14 years and then sold it off for 75k.
Whenever I am tempted to buy a new Car, I will book a self drive car (zoom car, Revv etc., ) and use it for few days.
This way I avoided buying a new car for several years and saved several lakhs.

Either New or Old, the car itself is a big trap, if your Income is not very high and not Very Stable.
If you buy a car which is much below your purchasing power, then you won't have any financial tension in future.

I purchased a 4 yrs (2020) old TATA Zest Diesel runs 80k km, Initially i got doubt that i took a wrong decision because its discontinued vehicle second thing its from TATA but now after 4 years (2024) of my decision am happy with it runs almost 1.6 L km.

Few things to note ( Based on my experience)

* choose a car which ages b/w 3- 6 yrs

* fix budget with 20% flexiblity.

* Immediate wear and tear defnitly there in used car so be ready with 15% of your purchase value.

* Dont spent too much to modification and Interior work wait for atleat one year.

* Be cautious on document dont pay full amout with out document.

* 10-15 k maintenance cost every year.

Buy new car if you dont know anything about cars. Because buying a used car needs thorough analysis. Example if meter reading shows 1 lakh then seller can change the reading as 30000 by reversing.

I bought new car for 7 Lakhs with lower interest rate in 2022, drove only 1 K Km in the first year made minor scratches and 2 minor accidents, everything I repaired at totally 3K, now learnt driving car, 15 years will keep this car

Good Content But you MISSED IMPORTANT DETAIL .. From April 2025 onwards E20 Fuel will be compulsory..So better to go for E20 Fuel compliant vehicles like Old & New Honda Petrol, Old & New Toyota Petrol & Suzuki 2014 onward models❤...We may see Injector failures and other complications which arise in BS4 Diesel vehicles after BS6 Diesel came..Although even if you own a non E20 Complaint vehicle you may run it by Using certain additives in future...But one thing is for sure, many petrol car brands will see drastic price drop in used vehicles
