Hi everyone! It's been a while since I filmed a recent reads, so this one got away from me. I've read quite a few things that I liked recently, but also some dnf's and some things that were just ok. And no big favourites, unless you count the series I just finished.

In the Labyrinth of Drakes (Memoirs of Lady Trent) live show:
Sat June 18th at 1pm PST (10pm CET)

Connect with me👋

Intro 0:00 - 1:14
These were great 1:15 - 9:59
These were OK 10:00 - 17:56
I dnf'd these 17:57 - 20:44
I'm currently reading these 20:45 - 27:01
I think I'll read these next 27:02 - 30:14

I agree with all your thoughts on In the Labyrinth of Drakes. I was so relieved 😂. Can't wait to discuss!

Can't wait for the T. Kingfisher happenings on Sarah's channel. I'm prepared!

I just read Priory recently too! Also I really want to read T Kingfisher, they’re all over booktube right now!

I'm catching up on a lot of the videos that I've missed over the last couple of months!

I totally think that there was a door left open in A Chorus of Dragons! I think I've seen her say that she is open to returning, but she is working on something new right now, so I'm super excited to see what that is! And I definitely think A Chorus of Dragons is better as a whole, but I loved it a lot more on rereads (of the books I had already previously read).

I appreciate your thoughts on Engines of Empire because I felt the same way where I wasn't originally thinking about it, but some reviews really peaked my interest.

I feel like I've been reading a lot of 4 star books this year and generally liking what I pick up, but I also haven't had a lot of stand-out all-time favorites either. Definitely better than my YA struggles last year though.
Completely agree about Marie Brennan's endings. The way that Mask of Mirrors went, it made me think this might just be her writing approach rather than a Lady Trent-specific choice. (Though that's hard to say for sure since MoM has an author-duo.)
Even though I know all of your reasons for not loving Queen of Attolia, it still hurts my heart a little. 😢 I really, really hope King of Attolia pleasantly surprises you.
First Binding is sounding more and more like it won't be for me, which is a shame. Description-heavy is one of my biggest turn-offs.
EEP Hunger of the Gods!! 😍 I've had to push it to July because of how many other things I need to prioritize in June but I'm SO eager to pick it up!

I feel you on being kinda slumpy... like, I'm still reading quite a lot, but nothing has that 'wow factor' for me and I'm just hopping between reads because I can't figure out my mood. Hope we will both get out of this funk soon! 🤞

Yay for Lady Trent! I just finished my reread of book 5 and I can't believe the series is over now... I don't want to part ways with Lady Trent again already!! 🥲

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on all the books that you are currently reading/have planned! Priory is one of my faves, but mostly because of the characters! 🤩 The ending wasn't my fave, but by that point I was so invested in the characters that I didn't even care anymore.
And I hope you can get to 'the good part' in The First Binding soon, I've been really interested in that one, despite all the mixed reviews so far.

I am currently reading The Lessons Never Learned by Rob J. Hayes (#2 in The War Eternal) and I'm flying through it. The MC is a new favourite for me, she is foul mouthed, badass and an absolute spitfire and I love her with all my heart. Major Mia Corvere vibes!!
My next audiobook is going to be Nettle & Bone and I am super excited. I've loved everything by T. Kingfisher so far, so I can't wait to dive in!
Happy reading 🥰

I definitely agree with Labyrinth of Drakes being a step up. The third one was my least favorite of the series.
Okay you've got me intrigued with who the door has been left open for in Discord of Gods. I guess I need to pick this one up next

I read an ARC of Engines of Empire in Dec and it was meh to me. I didn't mind the steam-punk-ish aspect of it but the characters were just so one-dimensional and there was a lot of Mary Sue-ing/Gary Stu-ing.
