While I agree in principle with it I don’t know how this could work out so it’s equitable or just. Is it reparations based on skin color or does your family lineage have to be linked back to slavery? If it’s based on skin color what about people who may be passing? And would it involve taxing people who had nothing to do with slavery? Cause the bulk of my family immigrated in the 1900s to America. Yes some form of restitution should be done with people who had to suffer through inter generational issues due to slavery but I don’t think the California bill was well thought out

Would the civil rights act of 1964 qualify as a partial form of reparation in the legal structural sense? It hasnt changed everyone's behaviors or beliefs yet but is it not a HUGE reform from slavery and jim crow that would constitute a step towards broader generational social justice, compared to individual personal cash awards to people who just happen to be black (no offense, this conversation has to include native americans, hawaiians, and puerto ricans).

I just want reparations so they can have another form of free money. They could care less about healing. Plus ever after reparations, they're going to want a free house are free car and clean that it's necessary for healing.
