I think the reason for her unpopularity is not based on objectivity but based on human emotion. She is seen as an angry, snapping person with a hint of contempt in her facial expression. I didn't know she was this unpopular until I started seeing commentary in youtube and twitter. I am a hardcore objective person who looks at the end result in totality, and so to me, she has done a pretty good job at the Indian economy considering the pandemic, where every country has gone through deep crisis and we have done well on almost every economic front and parameters. But, as we are individual human beings and ultimately individual human sentiment is everything is all about, I think she should focus on her personal connection to the taxpayers more...That goes a long way.

She is hated because of her lack of Charisma, but the results of her efforts are evident. She doesnt do much public speaking and is purely focused on task at hand. I see her as absolutely necessar for the future of India.

Did he just say that "It is unfair to judge a finance minister by the performance of the overall economy"
How else will you judge?

If nothing, she should be commended for resisting calls for "stimulus" during COVID. So many other countries were undone by listening to these "experts".

The FM is the worst in the history of India who has done nothing for the salaried middle class.

She was way better than Chidambaram. People oppose her just because of taxes but even if the new minister comes they won't bring down any tax.

I think it's irrelevant to judge Nirmala Sitharaman. She has no agency of her own, Whatever good or bad has happened to the economy, She neither deserves credit nor blame.

I think petrol taxes hurt more. It would be good to gradually reduce them. And govt needs to reduce wastage in govt spending. A big example being the farm sector. Prof Ashok Gulati, who supports the farm laws, also suggested many ideas that could save 1 lakh crore in the current subsidy regime.

I disagree that she is the best person for the job, I am sure India can do better
1) No reform done on the personal tax front. I am really surprised how/why tax paying Indians haven't revolted yet after paying so much direct + indirect taxes and getting so less in return.
2) Tax terrorism has increased in the recent years
3) The arrogance with which she conducts her press conference, not answering pertinent questions. Maybe its the incompetence she is trying to hide by giving flippant answers

Her biggest strength
1) She will carry out the instructions coming from PMO without blinking an eyelid.

The comment section shows that few people have a typical mindset to oppose everyone and everything even when the parameters and facts points you to the other way 😂. Anyways it’s a democracy where even dumb and mindless have rights to comment on others achievements 😂😂

All the middle class people will become bank corrupt if she remains in same finance portfolio minister for more 10 years.

What a stupidity collecting 18 percent on health insurance.

1. Post pandemic recovery has been K shaped, however "robust" it might have been. Hence it is not an accomplishment we/ she needs to be proud of.
2. Corporate India and Stock market is just a miniscule percentage of entire India. They don't represent entire India, overall economy is what matters.
3. Lowering corporate taxes and not taking any action on personal taxes shows that it is a Suit Buit ki sarkar and not a government for the people. calling lowering of personal taxes a missed opportunity? really? for how many years it has been missed and repeatedly. I don't think it is justified to call it is "missed opportunity" the govt.'s priorities are clear, Favour the corporates and the salaried can go to hell as they aren't a vote bank.
4. calling it tax harassment and not tax terrorism now?
5. Relying on dividends from RBI by making it sell dollars in market just to earn higher profits also shows unsustainable way of reducing fiscal deficit.
6. Lastly and the most important, an arrogant person who doesn't answer or is not even willing to respond to queries in press conferences/ interviews should not be a finance minister.
