It's not magnetic, look at the bottom of the controller, there is a micro chip under the arrows that plugs in when you connect your controller. That is what most likely dirty or damaged. The top 90% doesn't serve a purpose but holding it in place.

I don’t have a Nintendo but I got some joycons to use on my pc!! They worked just fine until they died!! So I slipped a charging grip to charge them!! Plugged it into the wall, and the lights just flash and turn off, orange charge light is on than gos off after 10 minutes!!

My pc says their ultra low on battery, and they die instantly now!! Why can’t I just slip them in the grip and charge them like a normal controller?
