Over the years, I've experienced the wrong way to have personal data removed online, both as a consumer and as a publisher. Data brokers are constantly scraping our data, but the way that we make requests to remove this data can be either privacy or public. Here's what you need to know.

That Facebook deletes all user data when you delete your Facebook account is a fairy tale. Facebook will have stored the “deleted” user data at least in backup data carriers for some time, if not forever. If you were somehow of interest to the NSA, etc., your user data will certainly be stored forever.

why do they send the value of the info? Just send the metadata of the data: "Erase this person's date of birth, address, etc"

Also, I heard some bad spammers treat the "unsubscribe" button as verification of that email being active. So even if they do honor the request, they're gonna sell your email to way more spammers for more money because it is verified used.

I just use a different email (alias) for every service I have to give an email address. Also I use containers with Firefox. So no cookies overlap - each opened site is in a new container. The containers get removed when I close FF. I can make containers permanent andcassign specific sites to them.

I thought that when a clear spam mail has an unsubscribe link, that that link would be a spam/scam crap aswell? I mean why not, If I would let you walk through a maze with traps the exit signs would point towards the traps not the actual exit, so how would I know if the unsubscribe actually works OR is just another trap? I specifically choose not to click ANY links in clear spam/scam mails, it is not lazyness it's being overly paranoid, Or is it Justified paranoia?
