Great video; I also love scrap quilting. All great tips; yes, please do a follow up! I've seen Karen Browns series on color; its excellent for those of us who are color challenged. I learn something from every video you do so thank you for making us better quilters!

New subscriber here, long-time quilter. I've watched a couple of your videos and I've learned something new in each one. I love the concept of setting rules for your quilt and giving the weird fabric a friend. Haha. That's a good one!!!

In my opinion (and in my sewing room) there’s a difference between a scrap quilt, where I only use authentic scraps and don’t cut any yardage from my stash, and a “scrappy” quilt where I use a precut like a layer cake or a charm pack with complimentary fabrics from my stash. I definitely pay more attention to color and value when I’m making a scrappy quilt. Maybe Kris would call that a controlled scrap quilt? For an authentic “scrap” quilt I give myself lots of grace for the fabric combinations that makes up the patchwork to be downright wild. My ideal rule is not to use the same fabric twice in a scrap quilt, but that’s often out of reach so my more achievable rule is not to repeat a fabric in a block and never let the same fabric touch.

Angela Walters once said that scrappy quilts are crappy quilts, but I know on this channel scrappy quilts are happy quilts! Thanks for the video, I always enjoy seeing your quilts!

I love scrap quilts!!! I lean on value other than color in many of my scrap quilts!

I also love making scrap quilts. I started doing any random colors, but it was just too busy for me. I found after a while I truly like and gravitate toward controlled scrappy.

I love charm style (No repeats) scrap (only use what wasn’t used in a previous project or was donated to the cause) scrappy (cut a strip/string off of my fat quarters/yardage for variety), & controlled scrappy quilts?(sticking with one genre - 30’s or fabric designer).
I 100% agree with the parts about value, but in a scrap quilt I ignore it - depends on the desired outcome.
I study “this old quilt” and “unusual & unexpected” quilts and then try to add my own spin.
