Bonsaify | Mame Juniper Bonsai Branch Maintenance

Показать описание
Watch two examples of branch maintenance on mame juniper bonsai trees. Working with mini bonsai can be a lot of fun! The small scale can create big challenges when working with mame kishu juniper to create the crown. Eric discusses using small wirecutters as pliers, or actual pliers, when working on such small material, rather than using his fingers.
00:31 Tree #1: Even though a wiring mistake killed a descending key branch and part of the crown, Eric is not devastated and has a plan to regrow the crown from another branch. Renewal process leads to changes in the design of the tree on an regular basis. You cannot maintain tiny little branches so short over time.
1:55 Tree #2: Same batch, but was left to grow in a container a bit longer before Eric worked to make it a bonsai. The branches on the back are too long, and there is one dead branch. He does a little “editing” removing long branches in favor of shorter branches. You can just cut back tips and hope the tree will keep its health and vigor.
5:00 How Eric has primed the tree through wiring with replacement branches as he cuts longer branches.
8:39 Eric explains how mame is basically an exercise in minimalism, and he tries to create the silhouette with fewer branches.
8:55 Eric works on the smaller Juniper, tree #1, including some jin work and adding tiny bits of wire to enhance the aesthetic. Awesome close-up view!
15:50 the completed work on tree #1 and Eric discusses future design plans.
