Hello. I'm able to change the drive letter, erase it and add another one. There's only one problem... I'm used to use my usb flash drive to listen to mp3s in my car. After changing the letter, there's no way the audio system will recognize the drive. Is there anyway to revert the changes made and let Windows pick the drive letter by itself because when that used to happen, my audio system recognized the drive without problems.

Hi, then I try to do the the option for changing the path and file name is greyed out. I have admin privliges enabled as I'm the only user of the pc. Im on windows 10 which is a new build trying to attach old extental hds to sort aout all my files. All are the entenal drives are formated in EXFAT. many thanks this is new first PC after years of being tied to Mac through my work. Many thanks in advance. :)

If I change my D drive (where I have my programs) to another letter, would I need to go into the config of all my programs and change the drive letter in them? Or would I be all set?

Sweet man! I clone my D drive to another drive but windows gave the new drive a letter G. I need the new drive to be D because there are some files that depend on that path. Can I change the new drive to D? Of course I’ll unplug the source drive so there won’t be conflicting letters upon boot. Will that work?

One thing I want to know is, what happens to the drive that already had the letter? Like say a flash drive is D, and I unplug that flash drive, then I change My new SSD to D, if I plug that flash drive back in, what happens?

after i reinstalled windows the letters were messed up, flash drive was e, hdd was d, f, h and i, NO G!

Very helpful video. Thanks. But, once you have assigned the persistent drive letter, how would you remove it? I don't mean changing the persistent drive letter to another persistent drive letter. I mean removing any drive assignment.
