Hollywood star Ryan O’Neal dies aged 82

Oscar-nominated American actor Ryan O'Neal has died at the age of 82.

Mr O'Neal was best known for his role in films such as 'Love Story' and 'Paper Moon.'

In an Instagram post, his son Patrick O'Neal said his father passed away peacefully.

"My dad passed away peacefully today, with his loving team by his side supporting him and loving him as he would us."Patrick O'Neal wrote.

“My father Ryan O'Neal has always been my hero. I looked up to him," he said.

Patrick went on to add that his father was a "Hollywood legend”.

Although the Hollywood actor's family did not share the cause of death the actor was previously diagnosed with chronic leukemia and prostate cancer.

I was in high school when he starred in "Peyton Place" with Mia Farrow. What a heart throb!
He was the perfect Rodney Harrington character. Never missed an episode of that series.

I read his biography, and his wives and kids had all kinds of problems.

He did the movie The Driver. One of the vehicles he drove was a short wheelbase Chevy stepside. I built a 76 Chevy fleetside long wheelbase with a 305 found on the side of US1 and put a intake and four barrel carb and manual transmission in it to match that truck. My brother and I would go hunting for Camaros and Mustangs and only lost a few times. This was the early 90s. Movies sure have changed and I'd say not for the better.
