F-35 Jet Fighter Helmet Can See Through The Plane - Worth $400k

Pilots who fly the F-35 Fighter Jet, wear a helmet that can see through the plane on all sides and costs $400,000 US dollars.

The HMDS Helmet is the world’s most advanced biocular helmet-mounted display system. The F-35 aircraft streams imagery from cameras mounted around the aircraft to the helmet, allowing pilots to see through the airframe. Its integrated head-up display provides pilots with all the critical information they need on the helmet’s visor.

Each helmet comes fitted with noise-canceling headphones, night vision, a forehead-mounted computer, and a TV Screen like projector, that displays live video on its clear visor.

But what really makes this helmet so special, is when it’s combined with the sensors & exterior cameras mounted to the f-35 Fighter jet, it gives the pilot the equivalent of X-ray vision, when the pilot looks down, they can see straight through their own body and the floor of the plane and see the terrain below.

considering the planes cost around 75 million spending 400k on a helmet to increase performance by even just a fraction of a percent or improving the reaction time of the pilot by enough that it could be the difference between a crashed plane or graze is definitely worth it :o
