What can a £263k/$400k F35 helmet do? BBC News

The government is to set out details of its five-year defence strategy on Monday. Speaking to the BBC's Andrew Marr on Sunday, Chancellor George Osborne confirmed that by 2023, the UK would have 24 F35 jets operating from its aircraft carriers. A spokesman for the Ministry of Defence said those would be the first of a total order of 138 F35s - an expensive weapon, the helmets alone for which cost over £263,000 ($400,000).

There are some known issues with this helmet but the basic idea that you can look "through" the bottom of the plane with it is very smart.

imagine some guy riding his ferrari 458 and when he stop at the red light there's someone wearing this f35 helmet and said this to the man in the ferrari: "hey you, yes you the one that riding that ridiculous red italian car. i doubted the price of this thing when i saw it a while ago but now knowing the visor display is both see through and an actual full digital display is amazing. who would have thought we'd have this shit already, who knows what cool stuff we get next

It is a fantastic plane. Ok it can't fly in bad weather, it can't fly in hot weather, bits keep dropping off. The ejection seat is likely to snap the neck, etc, etc, etc, but the guns might work soon.

My mini van has a back up camera and sensors.... Pretty much does the same thing. Oh and I can turn my head to and see what's around me. Around $500 give or take for that option.

I'm pick up an f35 on the used market for cheap in a few years. depreciation will be a beach since it's it's still having problems to this day on second thought I'll just get a used Hyundai. might be a better buy. at least they work.

I flew one of these. The best plane I've ever flown before. I shot down 3 enemy aircraft and was never detected. God bless America
