I have watched this movie twice already. Thompson was magnificent. The pain in her face, the self-deprecating humor, the understated passion, one of the best performances I've seen in a long time. And the beautiful Darryl McCormack had every scene with this legend and never blinked. If this film doesn't win multiple awards, then awards are irrelevant.

That suit!! That hair!! Oh Emma, you never cease to impress in every way. One of the best actors of our time.

The film is so raw and really minimalistic in the story line but has such a profound impact which is incredible. I cried at the very end when she looks at her nude body and smiles to herself. Everyone deserves to love themselves and feel confident and good in their skin. It’s such a tremendous power that so many hurt without, we view ourselves as unlovable, ugly, disposable. It’s bullshit. I love Emma so much, she’s just magnificent. The writing and character development felt so organic and genuine. We need more films like it.

This was such a beautiful and refreshing film to see. I was immediately drawn by the premise and it did not disappoint. It was simplistic in the most wonderful way and would highly recommend it to anyone. Both her and Daryl were incredible in it.

This movie was everything I didn’t know I needed🥹 the raw beauty of having the liberty to just be comfortable in your own skin and the power to own everything about yourself is simply stunning 💕

"Woman are not, traditionally, invited to think aboit what they might want"
What an elegant wording of this, imo, underestimated trade of internalised patriarchy! Cheers Emma, thnx :)

I saw a preview of this two nights ago -- such a compelling film, even though most of it takes place in a hotel room. Both Emma and Daryl are superb in it.

Emma hit it right on the head, and you could hear the audience's response in how they breathed and clapped -- we all know she is correct. We cultivated a society that gets us hating ourselves then we switch to social media to compare ourselves, then we go to work, still fuming about how something isn't good enough, go to dinner and complain with our friends as we all self-bash every part of our body, even though that body has brought you right where you are NOW, supporting you breath by breath and step by step, the habitual denouncement of our miraculous soul, gets relegated to thighs, stomachs, butts and boobs and other things we put under the spotlight and we never get around to loving what has been gifted -- because we've been tutored in comparison, ingratitude and lack of self-love by parents, by society, and by the things, we keep chasing swearing that everyone is better based on a shape of a a maddening and sad trip we take on the coattails of our one brilliant life. we are so much more, so much more -- get to that holy place and love yourself wildly and unconditionally because you can IF YOU CHOOSE!!! life is too sweet to compare or denounce yourself or another YOU LOVE YOU RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE, YOU'LL NEVER FULLY KNOW LOVE OF ANY KIND!!! DON'T BASE YOUR LIFE ON HOW YOU COMPARE --- BE KIND TO YOU.

Emma is so brave to take on this role which many post-meno women can easily relate to. A beautiful woman and great talent.

Emma Thompson’s scene in Love Actually when she reacts, alone, to the knowledge that her spouse is likely cheating on her…makes my heart hurt every time I watch it. She cries, regroups, then has to rejoin her family as if nothing happened. Such incredible talent!
