People would read the video title as some taboo hot take, but as always, you expound and educate with great clarity on the subject. Sadly, there are far too many emotionally-stunted adults that become parents and lack the brain capacity to avail themselves of your knowledge in context.

Not too remote and not too strange. It is perfectly understandable. My brilliant therapist actually explained a scenario with my narcissistic mother and how that was Oedipus gone wrong.
It was the old story that she sees me as competition - someone who could very easily take my father's attention away from her. My therapist remarked on that after my mother sent me a picture of herself in a blue dress. She hadn't worn a dress in years. But I lost weight and I bought a dress and blue shoes. Lo and behold soon enough she had to do the same.
There is a constant underlying - sometimes subtle, sometimes absurdly obvious - competition and my therapist was horrified by that example and explained to me what Oedipus had to do with it and how her brothers and sisters were the same.

I hope lots of people use your video to understand this important topic better.

This understanding of the theory does chime with me. Both my parents were quite emotionally absent during my childhood, which has perhaps contributed to my difficulty in expressing desire for other people (the desire is definitely there, but I'm often clueless as to how to show it). Likewise, when my parents separated I can see how that blurred the boundaries of the parent/child relationship, possibly leading to me in future confusing being needed by someone with being wanted by them, with usually terrible consequences for my own self-esteem.

I don't think it's exactly true..but I do think some of this theory is believable w the opposite sex parent..daddies girls, and mama's boys.Not anything sexual but maybe the humble beginnings of charm, flirting and being able to get the attention of the opposite sex perhaps when being socialized in society and their immediate environments..
