After such an intense episode, and all the characters we lost, we really needed Tom Bombadil and Gandalf singing together (and I need Bombadil's hedgehog mug!)

I often wonder why some hate on this show so much. This scene was amazing. I've followed some of the comments. Goosebumps indeed! I personally think Tolkien would've loved it.

Loved this scene. Third Age LOTR is not his first time in Aman. He was sent to Cuivienen with four other Maia to guard the first elves from Melkor so he did go farther East then is originally told in the LOTR trilogy. The books infer heavily that Gandalf knew Bombadil prior to the events of the Fellowship so I am glad they made this choice in the show. I think people forget that Tolkien was changing and adding to the legendarium up until his death so many of the events of the first and second age aren't set in stone. The movies take plenty of liberties with major plot points and characters that Tolkien would have hated, but I don't mind. I love the movies and Rings of Power for what they are just like I adore the books for what they are.

In the books, during the Scouring of the Shire, Gandalf goes visiting Tom Bombadil and stays with him for a while.

After seeing these scenes between both, it gains a whole new meaning. Almost like: hey, remember the task I learned from you? It’s done.

I'm not a huge fan of the show, but Tolkien wrote such a grand story with simple, loveable themes. The characters exhibit that and it always shines through some of the less than great retellings of his story and I think they did my boy Tom right by this.
