Oh, Shepherd of all Israel,
‘twixt cherubim enthroned,
Please give ear unto our call,
Thy power and might to us make known!

Lord, turn us back to Thee,
And cause Thy face to shine,
In Thy light for us to see,
Thy salvation divine!

Lord, God of Hosts, how long,
Wilt Thou in anger refrain,
From those who unto You belong,
To hear their prayer again?

For tears You’ve given them,
To be their meat and drink,
In measure without fathom,
So their neighbors from them shrink,
And their enemies gloat over them,
As into seas of strife they sink!

Lord, turn us back to Thee,
And cause Thy face to shine,
In Thy light for us to see,
Thy salvation divine!

Consider, Lord, What You’ve begun,
Let it not come to naught!
Israel is like a vine,
That You out of Egypt brought.
For it You cleared much farmland fine,
So that it could take deep root.

Your vineyard grew and flourished,
‘til it o’ershadowed all the land,
Because Your vine You nourished,
With a strong and skillful hand.

Lord, turn us back to Thee,
And cause Thy face to shine,
In Thy light for us to see,
Thy salvation divine!

Then You breeched Your vineyard’s hedges,
And let it become a spoil,
For wild beasts whose ravages,
Rend Your vine up from the soil!

At Your rebuke the vine withers,
‘til by fire it’s consumed,
With ev’ry breath of wind it shivers,
And without Your help it’s doomed!

Lord, turn us back to Thee,
And cause Thy face to shine,
In Thy light for us to see,
Thy salvation divine!

Look down from Heaven now, oh Lord,
Upon the vineyard of Thy delight,
And come hither as we have implored,
To uphold Thy servant with Thine own might,
That the Son of Man who speaks Thy word,
May be strong to set all things aright!
