You should always expect that the car in front of you stops, stalls, crashes, unexpectedly turns, etc no matter what. That is why you keep your distance (depending on how fast you are) and you stay concentrated.

This is a very stupid solution for whatever they did it for.

Thanks for explaining, I still have no idea what's going on here..

This shouldn't exist. Red is red, green is green. They should have it be stuck on amber for situations like this.

Bro, UK roads do look like a nightmare. I'm glad I live in America because when you come to an intersection, one side is stopped while the other side can go freely

I understand this is the UK so very different. But your so calm and understanding teaching the people that I wish you could come to America and help our own driving teachers.

If you think your life is meaningless, remember about this traffic light...

Wow. I go around Asda almost every day and never knew that if there isn't a solid line I didn't have to stop. I always come from the other way but learned something new. Thanks.

If they do not expect a stop, and crash into you, they are following way to close and unconcentrated
Edit: almost 1k people liked it, thanks guys!

Those lights are a nightmare.
If it was Middlesbrough, the locals would have uprooted those lights the day after they were put in.

In the US, you stop at red lights, and drive through green lights. It's as simple as that.

Makes much more sense when you explained about that line. Appreciate that tip. I’ll be looking more for whether that line does/doesn’t exist at traffic lights I encounter.

I understand the principle of the repeat signal as I am in UK, but it should be closer to the junction at the beginning of the hash marks. Also putting it at a pedestrian crossing makes it very confusing and anything that causes confusion especially at a busy junction is a bad design. You have too many other things to concentrate on so any signal that is not obvious to everyone is dangerous.

As a Canadian driver, I dont understand who that light immediately after the turn is for and I wouldve stopped just like Erin.

Edit: I understand how it works now, no need for further explanations, lol. I guess my issue with it at this point is having 2 sets of lights for the same "lane" seems redundant. That being said though, since seeing this I have noticed double lights in several places locally as well (central canada) which I never had before.

I understand what she’s saying here, we had a junction like this near my previous house, wide like this and the lights when you exited (that were meant for traffic coming across the junction) were suddenly staring at you, you didn’t have to stop, they weren’t meant for you, I saw people slam their brakes on all the time despite it being quite obvious as it probably is here.
