The Staatsburgh Mansion—better known as the Mills Mansion— a Beaux-Arts masterpiece that underwent a remarkable transformation between 1895 and 1896. This 79-room marvel boasts 14 bathrooms, 23 fireplaces, and a presence that whispers tales of Gilded Age splendor.

Unlike many other grand estates, what makes The Mills truly extraordinary is that just about everything remains as it was when the Mills family last inhabited it. Stepping inside is akin to stepping back in time.

Wow. Such generosity on behalf of the daughter to just have it all over to New York State with everything virtually included. So lucky it didn’t go the way other mansions did. You capture the mansions so beautifully.

I agree with you about the dining room. It is also my favorite room. I toured this mansion on a slow day. There were only 4 people in my tour, and 2 were decorators, plus there were no other tours so we got a very long and detailed tour. Unfortunately we had missed the exploding sofa by a week. It was bun-tufted and upholstered in silk, and as it was about 90 years old and had been in the sun, the silk deteriorated and the tightly packed stuffing shot out all over the room during a tour. Excellent video.
