How to sketch a watch - Part 1

Hey sketchers. We're droppin' bombs of pencil sketching technique on ya' and today we sketch out a stainless steel wrist watch using pencils and marker paper. Last week I went to a conference where a graphic designer\philosopher spoke about Design and how nowadays we live in a "cupcakes' shop" where every shape is soft, continous, has pastel colors... even it seems all sketches have been some by the same person as they are all alike.

What opinion do you have about this comment? Are we living in this "cupcakes' shop"? So, focusing in Sketching and since you are a professional in this issue, what do you think? Maybe should we try new Sketching styles?
