One caution is if the major your interested in is competitive, think carefully about applying as a different major. For example, if you want to be an engineering major and your ec are polisci and you apply as polisci and get accepted, you might have a hard time changing to engineering.

ALSO If you watch long enough to see the k-pop reference and guess my bias in that group I will send you my guide to writing a good activities list on the Common App OR a template for organizing your extracurriculars; you can choose!

So what I'm getting from the vid is, apply as a major that reflects your time commitments, right (sub-major/concentration to write about in essays)? And then, you can also explain the unrelated activities (e.g. non-science ec's as a premed applicant) as a way to show the motivation behind them helps with your intention(s)?

Edit: A friend of mine discovered his interest in chemistry, and had activities in the engineering umbrella. He applied as a Materials Science major. Is this a relevant example to the video?

hi, i love the video and information! Im just a little confused about the advice regarding the passion project. If you produce a product, but don't publish, sell, market it, etc, then how would admissions officers confirm you did it? I've seen some other advice that states if you make a game or something like that, you need to publish it so that you can get downloads, since those numbers are then used as quantitative evidence of your commitment, work, etc.

Tysm!! If I am currently working on my passion project but don’t have a product yet should I still include it in my app? I’ve wanted to work on this for a while but I hadn’t had the time bc I was super involved with comp softball. I’ve recently quit lol😭 so now I have a lot more time which is why I’ve just started working on it

Do you have any suggestions for someone who is locked in on their major, but their extracurriculars relate more to post grad studies than undergrad? I plan to go to law school, so most of my extracurriculars are things like mock trial, debate, advocacy work, etc. However, I want to major in neuropsych, and I know there are a lot of scholarships for underrepresented minority women in STEM, so I can't apply as something like a political science major, instead.

Hi, I’m looking to apply as an East Asian Studies major. I recall in your earlier video that some schools like Yale are expanding their East Asian Studies programs, and was wondering if you by chance know of any other schools that are doing something similar(is the acceptance rate for applicants who apply to majors like East Asian Studies be higher than applicants that apply to other majors?) Also, are there any classes you recommend to take during senior year to emphasize this “spike?” Thanks!

What would I need to do build my resume to make it make sense to apply as another language (Spanish) major?

When you saying longing in hours for working and volunteering what do you mean? Where do I long them and how? Thank you so much and this video really helps.

What if you’re an engineering major, like electrical engineering? That’s still super broad but the field doesn’t go any deeper.

I’m having trouble understanding what you meant by the robotics thing, on college apps would you just have said that you did X hours of robotics a week during the summer
