I made one myself that looks the same just without the curve in the handle first knife I ever made it’s actually a pretty easy project for those that want to get started with forging

Thank you Black Bear Forge! So I looked up people Forging stuff as my Grandfather just passed and I needed to take my mind a break. When I did I got a Bunch of people in India cutting sheet metal into knives and I said that's not what I wanted... Then I found this Channel and I said now that is what I wanted because this is the real deal! Turning a Rail Spike into a Knife. Im on hard times right now, but If I can ever afford to buy Awsome cool things that I want again I am definitely looking y'all up! This brought a Big Smile to my face and you a New Subscriber. Thank You Again! 👍

Your freehand grinding skills are impressive. Most need jigs, tables etc.

Noice. I'm no professional but I've made a couple railroad spike knives over the years. They make great knives and conversation pieces.

I actually just picked up probably 50 lbs of railroad spikes! Some part of my chimp brain just needed to collect them, now that i have a place to store them. Figured I'd hold onto them until i got my workshop setup, and i now know what i want to make with some of them 😎 nice work man!

This is one of my favorite fairly simple knife styles. It’s always unique to each persons style. Like watching different people make Damascus or any other technique. It always varies between smiths.

I usually stretch out my steel a bit before twisting the handle. That way I can get a little more length in the blade.
