When you look at the Forbes Billionaires list, almost all the men you see made their money in tech: Jeff Bezos with Amazon, Elon with Tesla, Gates with Microsoft, Zuckerberg with Facebook, Ellison with Oracle, and Page and Brin with Google and then you have a man named Bernard Arnault, at #2 with around $170 billion dollars, trailing right behind Jeff Bezos and in front of Elon Musk, and often trading places with them.

Bernard made his billions in the world of luxury: everything from fashion, leather goods, jewelry, and high-end spirits. He’s the man behind the parent company that owns some of the biggest names in luxury: Louis Vuitton, Dior, Celine, Hennessy, Tiffany & Co, Tag Heuer, Hublot, Sephora, and many more.

The world is ran by smart people. If you look at the totem pole of society, it’s just smart people on top of smart people trying to convince other people to do what they want them to do. When you’re poor, you are owned by smart people: like your boss. But then, some people are able to make it out of that poor phase into the freedom phase where you’re making around $100k a year or more on your own. At this point, smart people can no longer get at you - but they still really want to because we're naturally power hungry creatures. So in order for smart people to convince successful people to do what they want them to do, you have to lure them in with something else. And that something else is luxury goods.

Bernard grew up as the son of a father that owned a manufacturing/civil engineering company in France. According to Bernard, his mom made two major contributions to his life: one, she made him take piano lessons and two, she had a fascination with the perfume and fashion brand Christian Dior. His father was the one that really gave him a sense of business, and by age 25, he took over the reigns of his dad’s company, with the ambitions to start his own empire.

Since the main point of luxury items is to show off wealth, it's extremely easy for those who sell them to make a huge profit since the more overvalued they are the more they fit their purpose.

This guy's wealth shows how badly people want to seem rich and how badly people want validation from others

I am new to cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, but I am very interested and curious to start investing in it, although I do feel this is kind of late now. Can anyone tell me what I need to do?

The interesting thing is that Bernard Arnault both sells and buys luxury goods. All these yachts and homes and art are all the same sorts of luxury goods he is selling, and all almost definitely have luxury margins on them.

Wrote a paper on LVMH for my first year and went in depth on him. Arnault is a ruthless genius.

Having rich parents who own a company seems to be a pretty important step in success it seems

Interesting video, but I didn't see a lot about the ruthless "wolf" part. It was more of a "he saw an opportunity and took it". Felt abit too happy.

The margin in tech is hilariously out of the world
Until anyone saw the margin on luxury goods

It’s signaling for sexual selection and social hierarchy determination. This man leveraged the more primal parts of our minds to become ultra wealthy.

I never get why LV and Gucci are called luxury brand when they barely make their own products and sell a crap ton of cheap material products. Its hilarious how people get tricked into buy fake luxury brand products.

People need to accept that a game is being played in regards to being successful. The average individual is playing at a fairly low level and similar to education, the higher you go, the higher the price. Once you accept that its a game you can determine how much you are willing to pay to play at the level you desire. Once there, you buy the luxury items, not for yourself entirely, but partially for others who value them more than you do. Great video, thank you!
