Introducing SABIAN Quiet Tone Cymbals

A little while back I got sent these brand new SABIAN Quiet Tone practice cymbals for me to try out and let you guys know what I think. If you haven't tried practice cymbals before, they can be a great way to practice with the feel and response of a real cymbal but at a volume level where you could easily play at home. Let me know in the comments what you think!

I was genuinely impressed with the feel, look and sound response from these cymbals so if you're wanting to upgrade your practice rig and need to keep the noise down, go check these out!

Also it was kind of hard to gauge how quiet they were considering you didn't contrast the cymbals to any other sound at all other than themselves, apart from the difference in tone the quietness of them could be due to low gain/volume etc. A run round the kit would've been great to relativise their volume. Great video and review tho!

As a Sabian dealer we were pretty excited about these!

Robert Zildjian formed Sabian Cymbals, named after their three children. I use Zildjian Low Volume and Sabian Quiet Tone Cymbals on each of my drum sets. Like anything it's personal taste. Very interesting family history!

Any ideas on how to set up triggers on these without actually muting or deadening them to get Roland Drum Module control? I was thinking Magnatrach DST-1's wtih cymbal Stand Mounts. But have no idea really

Maybe these are a great option to stack them with regular cymbals! You should try it Ben!

Not to hate on Sabian but I think it's hilarious how they copy zildjian usually 1-3 years after they've done something new.... What's next, special dry sabians? Lol.

I feet like these would be cool for an intimate kind of band. Really closely mic'd, but when you lay into them, it doesn't kill the vibe.

These are really cool! So who's making the reduced noise 'rest of kit' then?

usually im a zildjian player and since zildjian did kinda pioneer this design i was skeptical but i think i prefer these to the zildjian versions

I wanted you to hit a snare or something for comparison :D

Hey! You like your Ride on your left side, too! I'm a left handed drummer who plays a right handed kit.

Good’ne, Ben - thank you - is there any chance that you can compare these with the J Series Low Volume cymbal set from Chang?

I’m probably asking too much - but I thought I’d try my luck 😉

What are your thoughts on an electric drum kit for home practice?

Looks good! What would you recommend using along side these to practise playing a full kit?
