Canada has been exporting comedians for decades to help prevent America from destroying itself.

Mike Myers is so Canadian, he made sure that the Maple Leafs won the Stanley Cup in the Love Guru, which he wrote, so he could see them win it in his lifetime. Legitimately said that in an interview.

Mike Myers is so vocal about being a proud Canadian. This is interesting that Tyler didn't know. Conan actually got a little annoyed with him on Late Night for constantly referring to Independence day as, "the American version of Canada Day".

I saw Steve Smith (Red Green) interviewed and he was asked “ Why are Canadians so funny?” He replied,
“So Americans don’t kill us” 😂

This list doesn't even scratch the surface of hugely famous Canadian comedic actors

I would have to say, John Candy's best movie has to be "Trains, Planes, and Automobiles". A MUST watch if you haven't watched it like 100 times already 😅

I can't believe Eugene Levi isn't on this list.

Phil Hartman and John Candy were brilliant and we tragically lost them way too early. :(

Rick Moranis not being on this list is wild.

I went to the same high school as Mike Meyers (Stephen Leacock C.I.) . He was a couple of years ahead . H3 was from one neighbourhood over but went to Leacock because we had a TV program, tv studio. The Wayne Campbell character was based on a guy named Wayne Douglas, ( my friend’s older brother) - the longish dark hair, trucker hat, buffalo plaid jacket and holes in the knees jeans was all based on Wayne Douglas. The donut shop they hung out at 8n the movie was based on the Tim Hortons that Mike and his buddies hung out at Don Valley and Sheppard Ave. And, hanging out / parties in the basement was most definitely a thing in Scarborough, at last in the ‘80’s! There is a street named after him in the local ‘hood.

Ryan Reynolds and Ryan Gosling are also pretty funny guys, Keanu Reeves considers himself Canadian and he is super funny too, Bill and Ted.
Michael Cera from Superbad is from Canada too. Jay Baruchel, who is Paired up With Seth Rogen in many movies like This is The End, also Canadian.

I think a lot of Americans would really be surprised how many Canadians are in the entertainment industry in front and behind the camera we are taking over😂❤🇨🇦 and have been for a long time

Aside from others like Catherine O'hara, Ryan Reynolds, Michael J. Fox it's interesting to note that the man synonymous with comedic talent, Lorne Michaels is also Canadian. Lorne is the Creator and Producer of a little TV show called Saturday Night Live. More notable Canuck comedians include all of The Kids in The Hall (most of whom have been in SNL), Rick Moranis, Rich Little (old school comedian), Will Arnett, Samantha Bee, Tommy Chong (and his daughter Rae Dawn Chong), Michael Cera, Joe Flaherty, Tom Green, Eugene Levy, Howie Mandel, Andrea Martin, Mathew Perry, Steve Smith, Caroline Rhea, Alan Thicke, Billy Van (look him up), Brendan Fraser (raised as a Canuck), Colin Mochrie and many, many more. I believe I have mentioned this before, but we Canadians basically OWN Hollyweird right down to the fact that this Summer's Blockbuster Deadpool and Wolverine are actually Two Canadian Comic book Characters, being portrayed by a Canadian and an Australian (another Commonwealth Country). Have a Wonderful Day!!

Let's throw Brent Butt of "Corner Gas" fame in just for the hell of it.

Leslie Nielsen was a dramatic actor for decades before his first comedy roll.

Mike Meyers, in the Queen/Freddie Mercury biopic, plays a music executive who rejects Bohemian Rhapsody as "it is not a song you could picture young guys bopping their head to while driving a car" (not the exact quote)... LOL

Rick Mercer is actually very popular here in Canada. My favourite movie with John Candy is called Cool Runnings based on a true story. You have to watch it, it's really good!

Martin Short is starring in 'Only Murders in the Building' with another SNL alum, Steve Martin and they're killing it.
