Here's three alternatives to getting replaying every level five times:
1) get up to three friends and have them beat the levels with you.
2) get up to three extra controllers, spawn the other characters at the end of each level, and then throw them onto the flagpole in the brief window where the level doesn't end.
3) Play the game on Super Mario Maker 2 instead while we wait for the high probability of a Super Mario 3D World Deluxe, like they did with Bros. U and Luigi U.

I think it's good that you don't unlock more levels for doing this, actually. I don't want a lot of content to be reliant on completing a game five times. It's just a nice little bonus for those who wish to find something more to do.

I actually love that this challenge exists. The "five shiny stars" in previous games seemed too easy, but this one will hold a true feeling of accomplishment. Once I run into another gaming drought, I can turn on my Wii U and play through these levels again without worrying about collectibles!
