The Golf Grip | Achieving a Single Figure Handicap | Padraig Harrington

After the earlier tips on movement and rhythm in the swing and finding the ground with the club, I now move on to the grip, which is fundamental to playing good golf and achieving a single-figure handicap. I discuss why the grip needs to be in your fingers rather than your palms and demonstrate how you will know you have a good grip.

Speaking as a stuck golfer, I'll be following this. Thanks, it's a privilege to be able to have access to advice from a great player.

Am 9 index and watched this video before heading out. Checked my grip at club with pro who had one of those training aids. Right hand had become too strong and resulted in heel strikes. Fixed grip and strike and path changed. Just ordered my own weighted grip training aid to use as a warm up. Amazing how things slide if you don’t stay on top of them !

Brilliant tip/reminder. I was slapping my irons a bit. Watched this, tweaked my grip and did it with the club off the ground, and now hitting much more cleanly.

Ive seen so many grip videos recently and not one of them has articulated it in such an easy to understand way with such an obvious and practicall drill in literly 1 min and 30 seconds. This is excellent and the first vid ive seen on your channel and subbed straight away. Thanks (13 handicapper)

Started following his videos about 6 months ago. Few tips I incorporate into every warm up and has really helped improve, down from 18 to 14 in the last few months alone. Single digit goal

Love this my only issue is when I wear a glove I tend to lose the feel and over grip I’ve now taken the glove off at the range and the speed is up and the strikes are pure going to try it on the course. Love everything you do for us Paddy you’re doing a great job

Pleasure to walk with you at the Rogers Charity Classic. Officer Tim. Will continue to watch your Chanel. You are a class act. Sticking around to sign all those items for the kids. Good luck in future tournaments. Cheers.

My left hand grip was pretty much spot on, but I had ignored the importance of the right hand. Now I have it much more in the fingers of the right hand - ball striking has improved and consistency has improved. Kudos to PH, so much appreciated

Thanks for all of the tips Paddy! I spent a while on the first two videos in this series just working on the motion and finding the ground. Between those and this grip video something appears to have clicked (for now at least), and not a single one of my tee shots had my usual slice when I went out for 9 yesterday!

Feels like I’m finally able to use my height and long limbs and even hit my longest drive so far (~305 carry) dead straight!
