2018 HONDA CIVIC COSTS AND ISSUES

This is a 1 year update on the ownership of the 2018 Honda Civic. Over the 2 years since the car has been released it has covered 17,000 miles .

This is just a rough estimate of maintenance and repairs. You have to also take into account service costs etc, and I also forgot to mention there is a A/C service for the car every 2 years which costs something like £80 (I think).

Great car I've never had any major issues. The thing anyone should be aware of when buying secondhand is that the 1.0L engine needs a new cambelt at 60k miles, cost is around £1200, so if you see any check the belt has been done, some are changed on recall due to known issue so check this too.

Parking sensor when raining is common with my car, so i just turn it off. Cause a new grill is about 500 euro’s, ex montage! But never the less, what a great car it is! This car puts a smile on my face, in my opinion best Civic ever!

I had the tyre pressure lighting coming on randomly on my 2019 sport when I first got it at the start of the year. I was advised to do a "master reset" which involves doing the calibration process 3 times in succession waiting 5 seconds between each one. Never been on again since.

Had 4 major faults with my 10th gen 2019 civic. New air con unit, new window seal (electric window kept going down), intake sensor and now fuel pressure sensor connectec to fuel rail.

Bro paid £5 to visit Honda dealer and wait 15 mins to change the key-fob battery! You can change it yourself quicker and for alot less! That made me chuckle hearing that 💀

Ive had a 2018 1.6 diesel almost from new and have had in order:
Random warning lights on the dash, all saftey system related, brakes, stability etc - Not long after purchase, took it back to Honda and its never happend again.
Sensor failed on engine had to be replaced.
Replacement brake pads squeeling, had to have them replaced at Honda.
Battery failed at 2.5 years old had to be replaced.
Alarm siren kept going off and wouldnt stop! Had to disconnect the sounder.
Soot sensor on exhaust system failed had to be replaced.
A/C condenser failed had to be replaced.

Shame really as its a nice car! And ive had civics before with no issues.

1.0 VTEC It is working like a charm, 61.000 km and no issues at all after 29 months of usage. The multimedia system is slow, without a doubt, you start and lose the ability of control anything after a while

I’ve replaced 3 ABS sensors. Flashes up all faults on dash.
Winter if minus the accelerator can stick open if the put the pedal to the floor. Edit…. Now need new timing belt as recommended at 6yrs or 75k miles. (2017 model)

I bought a civic brand new in aug 2018 & purchased 5 year service plan to help maintain car!. It's only done 32500 miles! Had it's 5th year service a month ago, passed MOT just over a week ago & has had intermittent acceleration issues for last 10 months which I did tell Honda about several times. Using the car for holiday a week ago, acceleration was awful & oil warning light came on with wavy line underneath. It's gone into Honda yesterday and today I was told it's the fuel injector that's faulty & cylinder 2 has issues and some valves need replacing & cleaned! Total cost £3686!!!! I am shocked! I've complained to Honda about how you can justify that issue & price for the amount of miles driven & having it serviced by Honda every year! My car should be on 62000 miles by now normally! If they don't lower the cost for me by a lot, I'll sell the car & never buy a Honda again!

Good grief. I thought Hondas were supposed to be bullet-proof. I'll stop moaning about the few issues I've had with my 17 year old Audi TT. Nothing like £800 in the four years I've owned it. And the tyres last longer than 17, 000 miles.

4:15 "go for the Michelin's as they'll last way longer". TBH 17k miles is really poor for tyre life, on my 9G Civic, the Michelin's lasted 46k miles on the front and 72k miles on the rear.

Hello mate, I am looking to get either a 2017 SR model or a 2019 SE model in auto (wife only knows auto). Both cars are under 20k milage but wanted to ask if I should stay clear of the models or if it's still worth buying.
Any help is appreciated. Drew

Wait the oil dilution problem is already solved in the 2020 model?

I've got a 1.5 and had all those problems. Do you get a noise when doing a clutch control?

I want to buy the 1.5 manual my20 2020. Is there someone who owns it and can give me informations about the car? Has the problem with oil dilution been solved? Has anything of the problems that have been mentioned at the video? What about fuel consumption? Thank you for your time.

I'm thinking of buying a 19 plate 1.5. Do you know how long the warranty lasts and if it's transferable for a 2nd hand car?

I bought a 2017 civic SE and i was driving on the motorway. Turns out my timing belt snapped and now my engine is ruined. Any idea why this happened? I assume it was just the dealers i got it off didnt take care of it well so 🤷 any idea how much an engine would cost? And anywhere to get good ones? I have been told its a chain not a belt or its a belt not a chain idek myself havent had the chance to open it and take a look but im jsut wondering about the cost
